  • Library: The library has a comfortable stay as is fitted with a conference table and chairs, and with a seating capacity of 25 persons at a time. It has a very good collection of Surgery textbooks, practicals, and references.
  • Seminar Room: The library has a comfortable stay as is fitted with a conference table, chairs, AC, and with a seating capacity of 25 persons at a time. It has a very good collection of Surgery textbooks, practicals, and references. The library has facility of LCD projector for presentations and seminars.
  • Demonstration Room: For the demonstration or tutorials, the department has 3 demonstration rooms with a seating capacity of 75-80 students.
  • Faculty Room: Each faculty member has a comfortable space to carry out her or his academic work in peace.

Teaching Activities

Lecture and demonstration classes are conducted with the help of available different audio-visual aids i.e. LCD, Blackboard, etc. Tutorials are held weekly where learning of the students is carried out in different interesting ways to get their spirited participation- ie sessions of Problem-based questions, Fill-in blanks, Multiple Choice questions, Spotting test exercises, Viva-voce, Model forming, Quiz, Seminar, etc. These activities are also reckoned for Day- today assessment record of the students.

Pediatric surgery

Pediatric and neonatal surgical units are present in the hospital. A well-equipped neonatal ICU with a ventilator facility is available. Surgical treatment is available for:

  1. Congenital neonatal anomalies like an imperforate anus, oesophageal atresia with tracheo-oesophageal fistula, diaphragmatic hernias, duodenal and other intestinal atresias, omphalocele, gastroschisis, hirschprungs disease, Malrotation, etc.
  2. Paediatric neurosurgery for meningocele, meningomyelocele, encephalocele, and hydrocephalus.
  3. Paediatric urological problems like PUV, hydronephrosis, hypospadias, undescended testis, pediatric hernias and hydrocele, bladder exstrophy, epispadias and VUR.
  4. Paediatric tumors (teratomas. Wilms tumour, neuroblastoma etc.
  5. Paediatric trauma and other surgical emergencies.
