SHRI MAHANT INDIRESH HOSPITAL ORGANIZES WORKSHOP ON LIVER FAILURE TREATMENT
A one-day workshop was organized by the Gastroenterology Department of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital. The workshop featured a lecture by Dr. Anand Sharma, Liver Specialist from AIIMS, Rishikesh on the role of plasma exchange in liver failure. Dr. Anand Sharma shared crucial information on advanced treatment technologies related to liver failure.
Over 100 doctors participated in the workshop, both offline and online. The workshop was inaugurated jointly by Dr. Anand Sharma and Dr. Amit Soni by lighting the lamp.
Professor and Head, Deptt. of Gastroenterology, Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, Dr. Amit Soni, said that modern medical science has made significant discoveries regarding liver failure treatment. The use of modern technologies in treating liver diseases is highly beneficial.
Dr. Anand Sharma explained that plasma exchange is a procedure that separates plasma (the liquid part of blood) from blood cells using a machine. The plasma is then replaced with a liquid and returned to the body.
Dr. Amit Soni emphasized that since liver transplant facilities are not available in the state of Uttarakhand, plasma exchange can aid in treating specific liver failure cases.
Senior doctors and PG students from the Gastroenterology, Medicine, and Critical Care departments participated in the workshop.
Professor, Deptt. of Gastroenterology, Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, Dr. Sanjay Gupta said that new treatment alternatives are urgently required in cases of liver failure that can help the liver failure patients.
The occasion was also marked by the auspicious presence of Principal, Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical & Health Sciences, Dr. Ashok Nayak, Chief Medical Superintendent, Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, Dr. Utkarsh Sharma and Dr. Pankaj Mishra. Dr. Ashok Nayak honored Dr. Anand Sharma and encouraged future knowledge-sharing sessions.
