Introduction

The department of dermatology provides out-patient and in-patient services concerning all diseases of skin, hair and nail. Besides a well laid out out-patient wing, it also has a 40 bedded ward for care of complicated inpatient cases. The department also runs special clinics during OPD hours which includes sexually transmitted diseases and leprosy in which the patients are counselled and provided government supplied drugs. High quality under-graduate and post-graduate training is also done in the department.

The department was started in 2002 with a small team and now the team is comprised of many specialists providing care across all sub specialities in dermatology.

The department was approved to begin teaching programme for post graduate students in 2013 and currently has approval to take 5 trainees a year.
An average of about 25000 OPD and 500 IPD patients are taken care of annually.
The department is well equipped with a state of the art triple platform Alma Laser system which is being used for various procedures including Laser Hair Removal, Pigmentary Disorders, Tattoo Removal, Vascular Lesions, Scar Resurfacing and other indications.
We have great success with Platelet Rich Fibrin Dressings for non-healing ulcers.

Regular collaboration with other departments for complex cases that require a multi-disciplinary approach including various disorders like connective tissue disorders, genodermatoses and others is done.

The various treatment modalities and procedures being done in department currently include:

Pulse Therapy: Tailored treatment protocols are administered for conditions such as Pemphigus, ensuring optimal management and improved outcomes.

Skin Grafting for Vitiligo: Stable cases of vitiligo benefit from specialized grafting procedures, aiding in the restoration of skin pigmentation and enhancing patients' quality of life.

Skin Biopsy: Routine skin biopsy procedures are performed with precision and care, facilitating accurate diagnosis and targeted treatment plans for various dermatological conditions.

Cosmetic Dermatology: We offer a range of cosmetic procedures, including Glycolic and TCA Peels, aimed at rejuvenating and enhancing the appearance of the skin, tailored to individual needs and preferences.

Ellman Surgitron Radiofrequency: Advanced technology is employed for the safe and effective removal of benign skin growths such as moles, warts, skin tags, ensuring optimal results with minimal discomfort.

Other minor skin procedures: Intralesional injections for keloids, Immunotherapy for warts, Podowart application for warts, Milia removal, Comedone extraction, Phototherapy for Vitiligo and Psoriasis, Excision of cysts, Platelet Rich Plasma therapy, Nail surgery of ingrown toenails, KOH mount for diagnosis of fungal infections, Woods lamp examination, Iontophoresis, Slit Skin smear, Gram staining for urethral discharge, AST for chronic urticaria.

  • Friday – STD Clinic 2PM to 4PM
  • Saturday – Pigmentary Clinic 2PM to 4PM
