On the occasion of National Plastic Surgery Day (July 15), Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital organized a guest lecture on Saturday on the theme “Spectrum of Onco-Reconstructive Surgeries.” More than 100 physicians participated in the event and discussed modern reconstructive techniques and global research advancements in post-cancer surgery rehabilitation.

The programme, held in the hospital auditorium, was inaugurated with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Dr. Vipin Barthwal, Director of Onco-Reconstructive Surgery, Max Institute of Cancer Care, Vaishali, Ghaziabad; Dr. Utkarsh Sharma, Principal, Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical & Health Sciences; Dr. Anil Malik, Chief Medical Superintendent; Dr. Sanjay Sadhu, Head of the Department of Plastic Surgery; Dr. Kinnari A. Vyas Rawat; and Dr. Bhavana Prabhakar.

Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Vipin Barthwal stated that advanced techniques such as microvascular free-flap surgery, perforator flap procedures, and three-dimensional surgical planning have transformed the rehabilitation of cancer patients worldwide. He remarked, “Today, the objective of plastic and reconstructive surgery extends beyond the restoration of body parts; it is to provide patients with improved functionality, self-confidence, and quality of life. Ongoing research and multidisciplinary treatment approaches continue to enrich this field.”

Dr. Utkarsh Sharma observed, “The research and innovations taking place in plastic surgery across India and abroad are highly inspiring for medical science. Dr. Barthwal’s lecture has provided physicians with an excellent opportunity to acquaint themselves with modern techniques and evidence-based treatment modalities.”

Dr. Sanjay Sadhu noted that interactive academic programmes enable physicians to benefit directly from the experiences of experts, thereby effectively enhancing practical knowledge and skills. The programme was moderated by Dr. Shalini Joshi.
