The World Breastfeeding Week was celebrated in Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital Dehradun from 1st to 7th 2026 .The week-long activities included counselling of pregnant and postpartum women regarding importance of breastfeeding.
Students of Nursing College performed skit to showcase challenges in breastfeeding.
The department of Paediatrics held a symposium and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology conducted CME to promote support and sustain breastfeeding practices with a focus on tackling challenges in implementation of Baby friendly Hospital initiative and improving breastfeeding rates.
The postgraduate students of Obs and Gynae department took part in poster competition. The judges for the competition were Dr Aarti Sharma, Dr Monika Ramola and Dr Aachal Agarwal
First Prize was awarded to Dr Dhairyra Diwan the second prize was won by Dr Farhana and the third prize was given to Dr Anjali Dhingra.
The HOD of Obs & Gynae department Dr Vineeta Gupta distributed the prizes.
The department of Community Medicine observed this week by spreading Breastfeeding awareness in rural health centres and community.
This involved engaging the society and rural community in promoting, supporting breastfeeding practices.
