IN MEDICAL SCIENCE, THIS IS CALLED MICRO TRANSCATHETER PACING SYSTEM
The world’s smallest leadless Pacemaker has been implanted into a heart patient at the Cardiology Department of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital.
The patient, a 45 years old female was suffering from heart disease for a long time. HOD, Deptt. of Cardiology, Dr. Salil Garg and his team carried out the ‘Pacemaker Micro implant Procedure’ and successfully treated the patient. Chairman of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, Shri Mahant Devendra Dass Ji Maharaj has congratulated and showered his divine blessings over the Cardiology Team.
Senior Cardiologist and HOD, Deptt. of Cardiology, Dr. Salil Garg informed that the weight of Pacemaker is only 2 grams while it’s size is just equal to a big vitamin capsule. In Medical Science, this is called ‘Micro Trans catheter Pacing System’. For the patients of Bradycardia the world over, this is the world’s smallest pacemaker. Till now, the facility to implant this pacemaker was available only in metro cities of the country. Now it’s matter of big relief for the patients of Uttarakhand and nearby areas that this facility is now available at Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital.
For the patients of Bradycardia, the facility of Micro Transcatheter Pacing System is available under ECHS, ESIC and CGHS Schemes.
The patient already had a pacemaker inside her body. Due to infection, that pacemaker was removed. Implanting a new pacemaker was a big challenge in front of the doctors. The doctors implanted Micro Transcatheter Pacing System inside the patient and successfully conducted the Cardiac procedure. Dr. Salil Garg also informed that Micro Transcatheter Pacing System has now regularly been used during treatment at Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital along with other new modalities in advanced Cardiac Care like the use of Impella Devices, Orbital atherectomy, Rotablation and Intra Vascular Lithotripsy. These kinds of advances have made it into the most advanced Cardiac Centre of Uttarakhand and one of the leading Cardiology institutes in North India.
