CHILD RECOVERED AFTER SURGERY AND DISCHARGED

OPERATION LASTED FOR TWO AND A HALF HOURS, DONE BY THORACOSCOPY
Dehradun. Pediatric Surgeon of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, Dr. Madhukar Maletha has conducted successful operation of cyst of chest of a three and a half years old girl child. In this successful surgery, a cyst of the size of a tennis ball has been brought out from the chest of the child. After the surgery, the child is healthy and has been discharged from the hospital. Chairman of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, Shri Mahant Devendra Dass Ji Maharaj has congratulated and showered his divine blessings over Dr. Madhukar Maletha and his team for this outstanding success.
Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital’s Senior Pediatric Surgeon Dr. Madhukar Maeletha informed that the three and a half years old girl, a resident of Balawala, Dehradun, was suffering from the disease called Bronchogenic Cyst. Due to this disease, a cyst of the size of a tennis ball was formed near the lungs inside the chest of the child. This cyst was pressurizing the breathing tract of the child. This resulted in difficulty in breathing. The child was complaining of difficulty in breathing and continuous cough as well as vomiting while eating. The cyst was formed near heart, main blood vessels and near the food pipe. As a result, the operation was extremely complicated and challenging. In this operation which lasted for two and a half hours, Dr. Madhukar Maletha and his team successfully removed the cyst from the child’s chest thoracoscopically in which only three small holes are created in the chest and the operation was done through these holes. The child has recovered after the surgery and has been discharged from the hospital. Significant roles were also played by Anaesthesia Deptt.’s Dr. Saurabh Varshney, Dr. Tushar, O.T. Assitants Kalsang, Ratna, Shreeti, Babita and Amit in making the operation a success.
