Doctors of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital Spread the Message of a Healthy Heart through Cyclothon and Walkathon

On the occasion of World Heart Day, the Cardiology Department of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital organized a grand Cyclothon and Walkathon on Sunday. The theme of the event was “Don’t Miss a Beat.” Hundreds of doctors and health staff from the hospital enthusiastically participated in the campaign. Holding placards with slogans, the participants spread awareness about the prevention, early diagnosis, and timely treatment of heart diseases.

Shri Mahant Devendra Das Ji Maharaj, Chairman, Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, lauded the efforts of the Cardiology team and extended his congratulations and best wishes. With their spirit of dedication and teamwork, the department made this World Heart Day truly special.

The event commenced at 6:00 a.m. from Soori Chowk, Race Course, and was flagged off by the Chief Guest Dr. Ajay Kumar Arya, Director, Medical Education, Department of Health, Uttarakhand, along with Dr. Ashok Nayak, Principal, Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical & Health Sciences; Dr. R.P. Singh, Coordinator, SGRR University; Dr. Anil Malik, Medical Superintendent, Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital; and Prof. (Dr.) Tanuj Bhatia, Head of the Cardiology Department, Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital.

The rally passed through Police Line, Siddharth Race Course, and Punjab National Bank Chowk before concluding back at Soori Chowk.

During the program, Dr. Ajay Arya emphasized the mantra “Healthy Heart, Happy Life,” urging people to adopt a balanced diet, regular exercise, and a stress-free lifestyle.

Prof. (Dr.) Tanuj Bhatia encouraged both youth and elderly participants with messages such as “Drink more water, reduce stress—your heart will stay ever fresh” and “Drive away stress, let your heart smile.” He also advised the public to avoid smoking and undergo regular health check-ups to prevent cardiac illnesses. Inspiring slogans like “Exercise is the medicine for your heart—do it daily and reap miraculous benefits” were highlighted throughout the campaign.

At the closing ceremony, the chief guests presented prizes to the winners of the Cyclothon and Walkathon. The program’s success was credited to the dedicated efforts of Dr. Richa Sharma, Dr. Bhavana Prabhakar, Dr. Anamika Gupta, Dr. Mayank Agarwal, and other faculty members.

Senior surgeons of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, including Dr. R.K. Verma and Plastic Surgeon Dr. Sanjay Sadhu, also addressed the gathering. They stressed that heart health lies in one’s own hands, and with timely precautions, serious cardiac diseases can be prevented.
