Medical Superintendent Dr. Gaurav Raturi informed that Dr. Girish Kumar Singh, MD, DM (Pain Management), who has joined the hospital, is the country’s first DM Pain Management super specialist physician. He completed his MBBS and MD from King George's Medical University and obtained his DM in Pain Medicine from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Rishikesh. He has extensive experience in the field of pain management and has served at several prestigious hospitals across the country.
He explained that pain lasting for three months or more becomes a chronic condition and may itself turn into a disease. It not only causes physical discomfort but also leads to mental stress, depression, and a decline in quality of life. In such cases, relying solely on painkiller medications is not sufficient. At the hospital, modern MIPSI (Minimally Invasive Pain and Spine Interventions) techniques are being used to treat pain without any incision or major surgery, under ultrasound and C-arm guidance.
