
Dr. Pankaj Garg, Professor and Head of the Department of Surgical Oncology at Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital and SGRR Institute of Medical & Health Sciences, has been elected as the Director (Education), North Zone of the Association of Breast Surgeons of India (ABSI) for the 2026–2028 term.
This prestigious national appointment reflects Dr. Garg's outstanding contributions to the fields of breast cancer surgery, medical education, training, and research. In his new role, he will contribute to strengthening academic programs, training initiatives, academic collaborations, and evidence-based breast cancer care across North India.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer affecting women. In Uttarakhand, there is a pressing need to increase awareness, promote timely screening, ensure early diagnosis, and provide appropriate treatment. Dr. Garg's new academic responsibility is expected to significantly strengthen breast cancer awareness, medical training, and the quality of patient care across the region.
